Local Generosity Helps St Paul’s Soccer Teams Reach New Goals

St Paul’s High School, Bessbrook, is delighted to announce a new collaboration with local football club Gullion Youth FC, which has already delivered exciting benefits for pupils through the installation of new soccer goalposts on the school grounds.  The goalposts were made possible through a partnership between St Paul’s High School and Gullion Youth FC, with generous sponsorship and support from local waste management company Re-Gen.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to promoting sport, health and wellbeing among young people in the local community. The new facilities will provide students with enhanced opportunities to participate in soccer competitions across South Down and Mid Ulster through extracurricular activities, while also strengthening links between the school and local sporting organisations.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr Murray, welcomed the support shown by both organisations, “We are extremely grateful to Gullion Youth FC and Re-Gen for their generosity and commitment to supporting young people in our community. These new goalposts will enhance our sporting provision and provide valuable opportunities for students to develop their skills, enjoy healthy competition and build lasting friendships through sport. This partnership demonstrates the positive impact that can be achieved when schools, clubs and local businesses work together.”

Graham Johnston, Chairman of Gullion Youth FC, also expressed his delight at the partnership: “We are incredibly proud to see the great strides that soccer is making at St Paul’s High School. The enthusiasm, commitment and progress being shown by the pupils and coaches are fantastic for the game locally. At Gullion Youth FC, we are always happy to lend a hand in promoting soccer across South Armagh and the Parish of Lower Killeavy. We hope these new goalposts will help inspire even more young people to get involved in soccer and continue developing their talents both at school and within the community.”

The school looks forward to developing its relationship with Gullion Youth FC and exploring future opportunities to support youth participation in sport and strengthen community connections.
