Year 13 and 14 Pupils Support ‘Big Bucket’ Collection on a Day of Deep Sadness

Pupils from Years 13 and 14 took part in the annual Big Bucket collection in support of the Evora Hospice in Newry, showing remarkable generosity and community spirit.

Their efforts contributed to the vital work carried out at the hospice, which provides compassionate care for patients and families across the region.

What made their contribution even more meaningful was the emotional weight of the day. As the collection took place, the school community received the heartbreaking news of the passing of much‑loved music teacher Miss Denise Hagan. Miss Hagan was known for her talent, warmth and the joy she brought to countless pupils through her teaching and her music.

Despite the shock and sadness, the Year 13 and 14 pupils carried out their volunteering with dignity and maturity, reflecting the values Miss Hagan embodied. Their participation became, in many ways, a quiet tribute to her spirit of kindness and service.

The school community continues to mourn the loss of Miss Hagan, while also expressing pride in the pupils who represented their school with such heart on a difficult day.
