Our Year 10 pupils enjoyed taking part in the Young Enterprise Project Business programme this week — despite yesterday’s disruption caused by Storm Chandra.
Although some classes were unable to attend due to the school closure, they will have the opportunity to take part in the coming weeks, ensuring that every pupil still gets the full experience of this fantastic programme.
Project Business gives pupils a hands‑on insight into what studying Business Studies at GCSE might look like. Working in teams, pupils:
Created their own jewellery company
Took on different roles and made decisions about target market, customer experience and branding
Solved real‑life business challenges
Competed in an interactive bracelet‑making challenge to become the most profitable company
These activities helped pupils develop teamwork, communication and problem‑solving skills while giving them a clearer idea of whether Business Studies is the right GCSE choice for them.
A huge thank you to Sam Walker from Young Enterprise for delivering the sessions.
We also want to give a special mention to Gavin Fitzsimons, a past pupil and Young Enterprise business volunteer from AIB (Allied Irish Bank). Gavin spoke to our pupils about his role in the bank, the skills he has gained throughout his career, and how his time at St Paul’s helped shape his journey into the world of work. Most importantly, he encouraged pupils to choose subjects they feel genuinely interested in and passionate about.
It was wonderful to welcome Gavin back to St Paul’s and we hope to see him again soon to share his experience with even more of our pupils!
