After a week of staged reveals across the school’s social media and TikTok channels, St Paul’s has announced that its next major stage production, marking the school’s Diamond Jubilee in 2026/27, will be Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
The announcement was made at the close of the school’s annual Spring Concert on Thursday 23 April, to an Assembly Hall full of pupils, families and colleagues.
The production will run across four evenings beginning on Sunday 18 October 2026 in the school’s Assembly Hall.
It sits at the centre of a jubilee year that marks sixty years of St Paul’s in the Bessbrook community. The school opened its doors on 1 September 1966, and the 2026/27 academic year will carry a programme of events to recognise the anniversary.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat is one of the most beloved works in British musical theatre. First staged in 1968, it has become a staple of school and professional productions across the world for its storytelling, its music, and its warmth. For a Diamond Jubilee year, it is a fitting choice.
This is set to be one of the most ambitious and exciting productions the school has ever mounted. The colour, the music, the ensemble work, and the sheer scale of what Joseph brings to the stage promise four unforgettable evenings for everyone in the Assembly Hall. Tickets for previous St Paul’s productions have sold out quickly, and we expect no different this time. Anyone who wants to be in the room should watch closely for ticketing news and move early.
Auditions, casting and rehearsals will begin in the coming weeks, with opportunities for pupils across year groups to be part of the production both on stage and behind the scenes. Further details will follow on the school’s website and social media channels.
Pupils, families, friends and the wider St Paul’s community are invited to save the date: four evenings from Sunday 18 October 2026. It is going to be something special.
