In recognition of World Mental Day, A2 Health & Social Care students have put together a wall display with research information they have gathered from their module on Mental Health Issues. In groups, they have worked together to devise presentations to their classes on a wide range of mental health issues.
They have covered depression, anorexia, bulimia, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s, autism & OCD. Each group worked hard to make their presentations both informative and interesting; they provided definitions, statistics, signs/symptoms, possible causes and health needs that result from having any of these conditions.
Head of Health and Social Care, Ms Christine Fearon was very pleased with the quality of the work produced and the students were able to enhance their knowledge through extended activities in class, such as quizzes, word searches.
The overall outcome of this activity was that the students are more aware of the nature of each illness and more understanding and sensitive to the difficulties these conditions can present to clients.
