On Monday 22nd September, two Year 11 students, Niall Campbell and Cormac Feely travelled to Glasgow alongside Irish teacher Mr Stephen Mooney to compete in ‘Rí Chéile’, a public speaking competition of the Irish language and Gáidhlig na hAlbain (Scottish Gaelic).
This came as a result of Niall finishing first in the prestigious Irish public speaking competition ‘Abair’ last year and he got the unique opportunity to speak in front of fellow achievers in the ‘Sgoil Gháidhlig Ghlaschú’. As well as this, the boys went on an open bus tour around Glasgow, took part in a céilí and even tried the local Haggis soup!
Mr Mooney expressed his pride at how the boys represented St Paul’s and said it was a just reward for their public speaking successes and huge efforts to promote the Irish language in St Paul’s.
Maith sibh a ghasúirí.
