Year 13 Health and Social Care students recently visited Avila Nursing Home in Bessbrook to explore and experience an interaction with health care service users.

The visit provided students with the opportunity to put into action the communication skills discussed in class and to experience first hand factors that support and inhibit effective communication.

Students were warmly received at the nursing home and commended not only by the manager Mrs Lucy Holt but also by external inspectors visiting the residence on the day of their visit, for creating “a warm lively and inviting atmosphere”.

A day to be remembered by all which will greatly assist all students involved in the completion of their coursework.
