Mr Danny Kennedy MLA, Minister for Regional Development, Mr Oliver Mooney, Principal of St Paul’s High School, School Chaplain Father Dermot Maloney and Head of Year 13, Ms Christine Fearon, get the St Paul’s High School inaugural Santa Fun Run underway.
Year 13 students at St Paul’s High school in Bessbrook, along with their teachers, donned festive costumes on Friday 2nd December to undertake the school’s inaugural Santa Run, covering the distance from the school to Camlough village and back.
The Santa run was the brainchild of year 13 student Gregory McCabe who will travel to Romania in February as part of the school’s International Projects.
Gregory used the fun run as an opportunity to raise awareness for the school’s International Projects and as a novel way of raising much needed funds which will be used to aid schools and orphanages in Romania.
More than 100 students and staff, many of whom take part in the International Projects to Romania, Kenya and Lourdes, took part in the event. Minister for Regional Development and MLA Danny Kennedy started off the Santa Run and wished the students well in their fundraising efforts.
Principal Oliver Mooney congratulated Gregory McCabe on his novel fundraising idea and wished the Santas well on their efforts.
