Year 11 and 12 Learning for Life and Work pupils attended a Fire Safety in the Workplace presentation on Thursday 7 November.
The presentation was delivered by Mr Rory Dumigan, who is Watch Commander for the Newry District.
The purpose of the talk was to raise awareness of Fire Safety at Work and to help pupils with their LLW coursework on Fire Safety. Pupils were informed about the following areas.
- Risk Assessments (How to prevent fires)
- Fire Safety Training
- Fire Laws & Legislation (Legal requirements of the employer)
- Fire Evacuation Procedures
- How to deal with a fire in the workplace
Approximately eighty pupils attended the 45 minute presentation in the Lecture Theatre. Mr Dumigan agreed to take part in a Question and Answer session at the end and soon found out how inventive some of the St Paul’s pupils could be in their line of questioning!
