As part of St Paul’s High School,Bessbrook’s long established International Projects, a group of senior students and staff are about to journey to areas in Kenya and Romania.
The students, who are all in Year 13, have been fundraising over the last twelve months, and will bring a significant financial contribution to the areas they will visit.
Travelling to the Parish of Londiani in Western Kenya are students Rosie Doyle, Aoibhin McGuinness, Aaron O’Connor, Tara O’Hanlon, Páraic McCafferty and Shane Carroll, who will be accompanied by Chaplain, Father Dermot Maloney, and teachers, Mrs Pauline McGuinness and Mr Stephen Quinn.
St Paul’s has established a partnership with St Patrick’s Missionary Society, Kiltegan and the students and staff will work with two Irish missionary priests who live and work in Londiani, and visit schools, churches and take part in other missionary work.
Heading to Eastern Europe and Romania are students Colleen McVeigh, Orla Flinnigan, Serena McVerry, Miceál McNamee, Matthew Larkin, Sarah Rafferty, Louise Kenny, Mary McCrink, Déarbhla Wright, Kerry Garvey, Francine Kennon, Blaise McKnight, Enya McAteer, Amy McShane, Aimée Mackin, Ashlee Hughes, Breandán Lonergan, Margaret McQuaide, Leanne McGuinness, Shauna Murphy, Ciara Savage, Caoilfhionn Mac Eoin Manus, Sarah Louise McCaul, Eoin Murphy, David Loye, Fergal Connolly and Liam McDonnell, who will be accompanied by teachers Ms Christine Fearon and Mr Dáithí Murray.
The St Paul’s students will bring much needed aid and support to Romania and will visit schools, clinics and orphanages in the Eastern European country.
Wishing the students and staff well as they embarked on their projects abroad, Principal of St Paul’s High School, Mr Jarlath Burns, thanked the boys and girls for their hard work and dedication in fundraising and raising awareness of the needy communities aboard.
He wished the students and staff a safe journey, and thanked their parents, friends and the wider St Paul’s familia for their support and generosity.
