Pictured are the 46 members of the All-Ireland champion choir along with Music teachers Miss Bridie McAvoy and Mr Colm Murphy.
The school’s Mixed Choir with 46 members entered the Dublin Feis Ceoil for the second time on Tuesday 1st April.
They competed in the Alice Yoakley Quirk Cup for mixed post primary schools who were required to sing one unaccompanied piece and another, with seven other choirs also competing in their prestigious competition.
After giving a sterling performance, the adjudicator commented that it was the best diction he had heard in his two days of adjudicating at the feis and the superb quality of sing especially in the choir’s rendition of ‘Didn’t my Lord Deliver Daniel’ arranged by Moses Hogan.
The choir was awarded first prize and were asked to compete for the overall award that evening.
Having sung for a second time against the prize winners from the other competitions, the adjudicator awarded the St. Paul’s Choir the Folens Award for the best overall Post Primary School with a bursary of €1000.00.
