St Paul’s BBC School Report team, Paul Mc Keown and Johnny Hanratty (Crossmaglen Rangers), Event Organisers, teachers at St Paul’s and Jenay Doyle (Community Fundraising Officer for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice) come together to launch the 2nd Annual ’24 Hour Spinathon’.
The 2nd Annual ’24 Hour Spinathon’ will take place in the pupil foyer of St Paul’s from Tuesday 15 March at 12 noon until Wednesday 16 March at 12 noon.
The launch was covered by our BBC School Report team who interviewed all those involved with the event. Last year a total of £7,250 was raised for different Cancer charities. The charities who will benefit this year are The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, Southern Area Hospice Services, Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care. Pupils, staff and members of the local community will join together to raise much needed funds for these four local charities.
The event organiser Year Head, Mr Bill Geoghegan and teacher Miss Aoidin D’Arcy, along with a dedicated group of staff spinners will be ready to take your donations at the school. You can sponsor a bike at a cost of £30 or simply drop a donation in at reception.
Launching the Spinathon today was past pupil Paul McKeown and Johnny Hanratty from Crossmaglen Rangers, and Jenay Doyle, Community Fundraising Officer for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. PE teacher and Netball Coach Mrs Paula O’Hare Armstrong and the Captains of the school’s netball teams, Ciara Jones and Alana Keenan were in attendance as they continue to enjoy great success in netball competitions all over Northern Ireland. Schools All Star Blaithin Mackin will be supporting the Spinathon and she is an excellent ambassador for girls football at St Paul’s.
So why not join in, have fun and raise money!
