Words That Matter: A Level Debaters Take Centre Stage in St Paul’s Showdown

St Paul’s was buzzing with energy as our A Level Debating Society welcomed Our Lady’s Grammar School for a thrilling day of high-level discourse and critical thinking.

Three hotly contested debates tackled some of the most pressing and controversial issues of our time:

  • Is AI a greater threat to humanity than climate change?
  • Should euthanasia be legalised in the North of Ireland?
  • Is cancel culture a threat to free speech?

St Paul’s secured a well-earned win in the opening debate, while Our Lady’s edged ahead in the second. The final round proved too close to call, with judges declaring a draw after a fiercely contested discussion that had the audience captivated.

A huge thank you to Ms Owens from Our Lady’s Grammar School for bringing such a talented team, and to our esteemed judges, Aoife Finnegan MLA and Councillor Killian Feehan, for their expert insight and generous support.

A superb day of dialogue – well done to all involved!
