It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Mr Tommy Reidy, a much-loved and long-serving member of staff at St Paul’s.
Tommy worked as a dedicated and highly respected Science Technician in our school for 34 years, playing a vital role in supporting both staff and pupils. During that time, he became not only a valued colleague but also a true friend to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tommy’s calm and caring demeanour, coupled with his quiet wisdom and sense of humour, made him a pillar of the school community. He had the gift of being able to connect with people, offering support and encouragement whenever it was needed. He was admired by staff for his professionalism and dedication and cherished by pupils for his kindness and approachability. His contribution to the life of St Paul’s will always be remembered with gratitude and affection.
Outside of school, Tommy was an avid sportsman and a man of many talents. He was a highly skilled golfer, earning many accolades over the years and inspiring admiration among his peers on the course. His passion for the GAA was equally strong, and Tommy was a lifelong supporter of Armagh football. This year, he was especially proud to witness Armagh’s incredible All-Ireland victory, a moment he cherished deeply. These passions not only brought joy to Tommy’s life but also strengthened his bonds with so many in our community.
His passing at such a young age has been a profound loss to his colleagues in the Science Department and to everyone across the school community. He will be deeply missed, and we mourn the loss of a man who exemplified the values we hold dear at St Paul’s.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Tommy’s wife, Maria, his daughter, Ciara, his son, Conor, and his wider family and friends at this very difficult time. We hope they can find comfort in knowing how much Tommy was loved and respected by all who knew him.
May God grant rest to Tommy’s gentle soul. St Paul, pray for him.
