St Paul’s Year 10 Gaelic football team will aim to become the first team from the school to the win the prestigious Loch an Iúir Ulster title in the final next week.
Last year, as Year 9 pupils, the squad narrowly were defeated in the Corn Colmcille final by St Eunan’s, Letterkenny. Spurred on from this defeat they now find themselves facing the final hurdle one year on.
The squad as a whole have put in tremendous effort since September. Under the guidance of Mr Barry Shannon and Mr Martin Rafferty, the boys have racked up impressive victories against St Patrick’s HS Keady, Holy Cross College, Strabane, St Mary’s CBGS, Belfast, Castleblayney and St Malachy’s College, Belfast.
They now await the winners of the Carrickmacross/Rathmore semi-final.
We all would like to wish the boys involved the best of luck in the final.
