Continued strong GCSE and Level 2 Success for St Paul’s Pupils

St Paul’s is celebrating another year of outstanding success in public examinations at GCSE and Level 2, with this year’s pupils achieving excellent results that reflect their commitment, ambition and the dedicated support of their teachers.

Over three-quarters of the year group secured five or more GCSE passes at grades A*–C, including English and Mathematics. More than seven in ten achieved seven or more top grades, while over a quarter of pupils attained five or more grades at A*–B. These outcomes demonstrate impressive progress and reflect the determination shown by the cohort throughout their studies.

Head of Year, Mrs Oonagh McArdle, together with form teachers and subject teachers, worked tirelessly to guide and motivate pupils across two demanding years of study. Their dedication has been rewarded with strong outcomes across all measures, with many pupils excelling at the very highest levels. More than a dozen pupils achieved straight A* and A grades, with Niamh McGenity emerging as the top achiever, securing an exceptional nine A* grades.

Principal, Mr Dáithí Murray, praised the efforts of staff and pupils, commenting:

“This year’s results are a real cause for celebration. Our pupils have shown determination, ambition and pride in their work, and their achievements today reflect that effort. These outcomes also highlight the importance of high-quality teaching, careful tracking and the strong pastoral support provided by our staff. I am immensely proud of what has been accomplished.”

He added:

“Particularly pleasing are the performances in GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics, where over 80% of pupils achieved top grades in both subjects. This success continues the strong upward trend in achievement at St Paul’s.”

The school also warmly recognises the achievements of pupils who experience barriers to their learning and those with additional learning needs. Educated within a supportive and inclusive school community, the majority of these young people have secured the key benchmark grades required for successful progression into post-16 learning – whether continuing their studies at St Paul’s, moving on to Southern Regional College, or beginning an exciting journey into the world of work.

Reflecting on the values of the school, Mr Murray concluded:

“At St Paul’s we speak often of our core values of truth, kindness, integrity and compassion. Today’s results are a testament to those values in action — pupils who worked with honesty and courage, teachers who gave of themselves with generosity and care, and families who supported their children with love and encouragement.

St Paul’s is proud to be a mirror of its community, and these excellent outcomes show what can be achieved when young people are nurtured in such a strong and supportive environment.”
