Basic First-Aid Awareness Course in St Paul’s

Pictured are several of the students from 12.73, Mrs Geraldine Egan (Trainer) and Ms Cathy Fitzpatrick (Classroom Assistant) following the presentation of their First Aid Certificates in June 2011. Missing from the photograph is Mr Paddy McAvoy (Class Teacher) who was also actively involved in the delivery of the course.

Being aware of an emergency or life threatening situation and having the ELS skills to ensure the best possible outcome for a casualty are life skills that the staff in St. Paul’s High School recognise as essential learning through their students personal development programmes.

In encouraging the development of these skills, the staff have extended their Emergency Life Support programme to include a Basic First Aid Awareness Course that equips the students with the theoretical and practical skills of how and what to do in an emergency situation.
