Celebrating 10 years of project Kenya

The community of St Paul’s High School is very proud of the International Projects which offer pupils the opportunity to visit countries around the world, and bring much-needed help and assistance to people who are less well off the those of us at home. One of the biggest International Projects undertaken at St Paul’s is the annual visit to the Parish of Londiani in Kenya, where over the last ten years over £200,000 has been donated to the people there.

To celebrate ten years of this project, a special night was held recently in the Carrickdale Hotel where past pupils and staff who have visited Kenya had the opportunity to meet again, and share stories and swap memories of their time in Kenya.

Guest of Honour was Father Martin Barry, parish priest of Londiani and a native of Glenmire, County Cork, who is the generous host to the St Paul’s pupils when they visit each year.

Principal, Mr Oliver Mooney, and Chaplain, Father Dermot Maloney, along with Head Girl, Aoife Malone, who visited Kenya in February, presented a cheque for £3000 to Father Martin to kickstart this year’s fundraising efforts.

As part of the night’s celebrations we launched a commemorative DVD remembering the ten years of projects from St Paul’s. You can watch the film here:

Some photos from the special night are published below.

Hello All,
Great to see that everyone enjoyed the night and the Cork Man was in great form. Nice to see some familiar faces in the crowd.

Again sorry I could not be with ye, but where better to be than in Londiani if I could not be there.
Congrats again on a great achievement and here’s to the next 10 years.
Off now to show these pics to Fr Con and watch a bit of Champions League

Hope to see some of ye in Kenya again, soon. Do let me know the dates of the next trip and I will let you know if I will be around.

Asante Sana

Congratulations to everyone involved in the terrific reunion night. Fr Martin was in top form and is such an example to everyone. His enthusiasm and work rate seem to never slip. Londiani is definitely a fantastic experience for our students and staff and ST Paul’s has gained so much from the people of Londiani parish and its whole hinterland. Thanks also to Fr Con who couldn’t be with us for his friendship and hospitality.
